The kingdom of Nepal is located between India in the south and China in the north at Latitude 26* 22" to 30* 27" and Longitude 80* 4 " to 88 * 12" east. Crowned by eight of the world's 10 highest mountains, Nepal compresses lush tropics and summit of Mt. Everest( Mt. Sagarmatha), the highest piece of the planet.
This is the kingdom known as the unique and cultural destination in the tourism map of the world that combines the aesthetic and spritual excitement and adventure.

Nepal is the place where the world of mighty mountains,wild rivers,dense jungles ,unique cultures & warm hearted people are discovered. This is the country where Hinduism and Buddhism have co-existed down the ages. Kathmandu, our capital , has often been called a living mueseum having numerous antique shrines, temples and several other palaces (Durbar Squares )with intricate woodcarving that are every where are truely blessed by the only living goddess in the world "The Kumari".

Time Nepal is 05 hrs 45 minutes ahead of GMT and 15 minutes ahead of Indian Standard time. 2 hours 15 minutes behind the Beijing time.

Entering Nepal The capital city of Kathmandu is linked by both air and road. Flights link it with Delhi, Calcutta, Varanasi, Patna, Bombay in India , Dhaka in Bangladesh, Karachi in Pakistan, Paro in Bhutan, Bangkok in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Vienna, Netherlands, Osaka, Shangai and Lhasa.
By road there are 15 entry points, the major ones being Birgung, Bhairawa (Sunauli), Kakarbhita, Nepalgunj (from India) and at Kodari from Tibet.


Health No international certificate of vaccination regarding current inoculation against Cholera, Typhoid or yellow fever. Malaria.

Religion Hinduism and Buddhism.

Altitudes Varies from 70 m. to 8,850 m. (Mt. Everest "Sagarmatha")

Holidays Saturday (Saturday and Sunday in Kathmandu) is the weekly holiday, while museums remain closed on Tuesday and other government holidays.

Language Nepali is the official language and English is understood and spoken by the majority of people in Kathmandu valley and other major cities.

Visas A visa is necessary to enter Nepal and can be obtained for the following duration from any Royal Nepal Embassy or consulates or at the entry points in Nepal.*Please note for chinese citizen need valid visa to travel in Nepal and requested to apply in the Royal Nepalese Embassy or other diplomatic mission as there is no provision of arrival visa for them.US$ 30 for 60 days valid visa.
For Indian national no visa is required. They should carry voters ID card or passport for their identification.

Pls note: For a visa extension, please attach a photograph with the application form. The above fee are as per’99 government revision.

Fee exemption: Children under 10 years.

Airport tax Passengers departing from the Tribhuvan International Airport are required to pay an airport tax of Rs 770 if going to SAARC) Countries (Bangaladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Pakistan and Srilanka) and Rs.1100 to all
other international destinations. Domestic Airport tax is Rs.165.

Weather Climate ranges from Tropical in the low lands to Arctic in higher altitudes.

Monsoon Mostly rains at night, making the following days crispy clean and fresh.

Passport A valid passport is required for all national.

Currency Import of Indian currency by foreigner other than Indian national strictly prohibited. All visitors should obtain a receipt for all currency exchange. The same should be handed over at the airport at the time of departure and generally 10% of the amount exchanged can be reconverted from Nepalese rupees into US dollars.

Local currency The Nepalese Rupee is the local currency and is subdivided into 100 Paisa. The denominations of currency notes available are in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 100, 1000 and coins in 5, 10, 25, 50, 1 rupee and 2 rupees are currently in circulation. 1US$ = 78 NRs.US $ 1 = 8.30 RMB(Yuan), 1RMB Yuan = Rs.9.

Customs: Import Apart from used personal belongings, visitors are allowed to bring to Nepal free of duty cigarettes(200) or cigars (50), distilled liquor (one-1.15 litre bottle) and film 15 rolls. You can also bring in the following articles free of duty on condition that you take them out with you when you leave: binoculars ,movie or video camera, still camera, laptop computer and portable music system.

Export It is illegal to export objects over 100 years old (sacred images, paintings, manuscripts) that are valued for culture and religious reasons. Visitors are advised not to purchase such items as they are Nepal’s cultural heritage and belong here.

Wears Medium-weight and easy to wash cottons can be good choice year-round in the Kathmandu valley. From October to February, woolen sweaters, jackets or similar warm outfits are necessary. Short or long sleeved shirts are good in March through May from June to September light and loose garments are advisable.

Hotels Hotels in Nepal are star categorized in the Valley. Outside the valley they are as Normal/High /Superior . In Nepal there are comfortable hotels , lodges & resorts of international standards are available. We have very selective list of hotels where we make sure our clients have the most comfortable stay.

Restaurants Nepal is a heaven for all different international food. Hotels , restaurants provide Nepalese, Chinese, Continental & Indian food.

Shopping Nepal is famous for the products like handmade paper, Semi precious stones, souvenir like stones, crystal, Buddha statues( gold, silver, copper, bronze etc.) woodcarvings, masks, ceramics terracotta , Thanka paintings (a traditional Buddhists painting), carpets textiles( shawls , sweater, t- shirts ) .

Entertainment We have the world class casinos which are operative round the clock (24 hrs). Some clubs and discotheque in Kathmandu. Most of the major hotels have regular Nepalese cultural function . In Pokhara and Chitwan there is typical Nepali dances.
